I Am an Idealist

I took an interesting quiz on world view at http://quizfarm.com/test.php?q_id=23320, and following are my results. I’m pleased with them, because they sound pretty Mormon to me.

You scored as Idealist.

Idealism centers around the belief that we are moving towards something greater. An odd mix of evolutionist and spiritualist, you see the divine within ourselves, waiting to emerge over time. Many religious traditions express how the divine spirit lost its identity, thus creating our world of turmoil, but in time it will find itself and all things will again become one.

Postmodernist 69%
Idealist 69%
Cultural Creative 50%
Fundamentalist 44%
Materialist 38%
Existentialist 38%
Romanticist 38%
Modernist 31%

Silly, silly, poll.

I only got 6% on the idealism scale. Most of the idealism question held the absurd notion that evolution has a predetermined direction. This is part of Marxist dialectics. Classical idealism sees our future as the product of our ideals. If we have crappy distorted ideals, then we will have crappy and distorted future. There is not a predetermined evolutionary path as was suggested by Marx.

Perhaps the thing that is most interesting about the polls is that people who reject the modernist world view get labeled as existentialist.

The old Sugar Beet blog stopped working, so I opened a new one and updated the link in the left-hand column.

I'm late taking this poll. I scored 100% as a cultural creative and 0% as a fundamentalist.
